These gold 1 oz Britannia bullion coins are struck from 999.9 fine gold (24 carat) and contain one troy ounce (31.1035g) of gold. These gold bullion coins are sold at low premiums over the live gold price.

As UK pound sterling coins, gold Britannias are exempt from capital gains tax. This makes them particularly attractive for investors.

This coin has special security features. These include a small latent image on the bottom-left. Acting as a hologram, it changes between a trident and a padlock, depending on the angle the coin is held.

A small micro-text border can be seen around Britannia. It says “DECUS ET TUTAMEN”, which translates to “an ornament and a safeguard”.

The field now features surface animation – micro-waves which create lines, showing a pattern in the background. Tincture lines have also been added to show colours and patterns on the metal.
